3D/4D Pregnancy Ultrasound

3D and 4D (moving 3D) views of the baby, used alongside the standard 2D scan to look at surface structures such as the face, lips and limbs.

Sex determination of the foetus is not done at this centre. It is a punishable offence under the PC-PNDT Act, 1994.

About this test

The 2D scan remains the main medical examination. 3D imaging adds a surface view that can help assess the lips, palate area, face, hands and feet, and 4D shows these in motion. Clear images depend on the baby's position and the amount of fluid in front of the face.

When is it advised?

  • Further look at the face or limbs after a 2D finding
  • Combined with the Level II anomaly scan, when advised

How to prepare

  • No fasting needed. Best images are usually obtained between about 24 and 32 weeks.

On the day

  • A female staff member (chaperone) is always present during the scan.
  • Bring a photo ID (required by law for every pregnancy scan), your doctor's prescription and your previous scan reports.
  • You will fill and sign the PC-PNDT Form F, as required for every pregnancy scan in India.
  • The report is prepared by the radiologist, handed to you and also shared on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

Does 3D/4D replace the anomaly scan?
