About this test
Colour Doppler measures blood flow in the umbilical cord, the baby's brain (middle cerebral artery) and the mother's uterine arteries, and sometimes the ductus venosus. It shows whether the placenta is supplying the baby well, which matters most when the baby is small or the mother has high blood pressure.
When is it advised?

- High blood pressure or pre-eclampsia
- Reduced amniotic fluid or reduced movements
- Twins, or a previous pregnancy with complications
How to prepare
- No fasting needed. Lie on your side if you feel dizzy lying flat; tell the doctor.
On the day
- A female staff member (chaperone) is always present during the scan.
- Bring a photo ID (required by law for every pregnancy scan), your doctor's prescription and your previous scan reports.
- You will fill and sign the PC-PNDT Form F, as required for every pregnancy scan in India.
- The report is prepared by the radiologist, handed to you and also shared on WhatsApp.
